Packaging XMDS2 for Debian
The xmds package, which I used to maintain in the past, has been out of
date for a long time (see Bug#597014).
I hence created a Git repository at Alioth, which contains a preliminary
packaging for xmds2. The 2.* series is a total overhaul of the 1.*
series and the upstream authors renamed the binaries from xmds and
xsil2graphics to xmds2 and xsil2graphics2, meaning that both versions can
be installed together. For this reason, I started a fully new package
from scratch.
Well, almost. The upstream tarball for version 2.1.4 contains a
debian directory and I started from there.
Before I file a ITP for xmds2, I would like to know what the Debian
Science team thinks about this. As regards the package currently in Git,
there are still some things to be polished, but they are mostly related
to upstream issues.
