Hello Sylvestre,
You are right. The reason for the big size of the 
mathgl_1.10.2.1-3.debian.tar.gz is not the size of the pdf images. I think 
that the reason is the  big size of the debian-changes-1.10.2.1-3 patch file 
(10.2MB), which includes the STIX_vfm fonts (9.8MB).
