Bug#1107477: assimp: autopkgtest uses incredible amount of memory on s390x

Source: assimp
Version: 5.2.5~ds0-1
Severity: important

Hi,

I was debugging performance issues on ci.debian.net today, and noticed that assimp showed up in the journal for being killed by the oom-killer. I decided to check if it was the assimp autopkgtest itself that was running assimp when the kill happens and for sure the memory consumption goes through the roof. I stopped the test when the test was using more than 100 GB.

I think the killing aligns with the "Killed" in the logs [1]. See also how it takes 50 minutes to get there, where on other architectures the whole autopkgtest only takes several minutes. I'm also surprised to see a lot of 'ERROR' lines in the log and the test still passing. Is that intentional?

I'll add assimp to the reject_list for s390x and will remove it again when this bug report is closed.

Paul
