Maybe you guys know this, maybe you don't. Since I didn't find anything
about it on the list archives, I thought I'd at least mention it, in case
the latter is true.
IBM has provided an S/390 development system to "the community", so that
you can port and test applications on the S/390 platform. Registering can
be done at

If they agree, perhaps this machine could run a buildd once you guys get
to that point?
