На тех машинах, где у меня дошли руки русифицировать консоль (все чаще и чаще я
наплевательски отношусь к этому занятию), я пишу в /etc/inittab
$TTYNO:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 -I "\033(K" tty$TTYNO
(не надо понимать $TTYNO буквально :)
Все-таки кодам инициации терминала самое место именно там.
