The purpose of this email is to see if removing ruby-actionpack-action-caching would cause any problems for anyone. ruby-actionpack-action-caching used to be part of ruby-actionpack, but was removed from core in Rails 4.0. https://github.com/rails/actionpack-action_caching Th upstream repository hasn’t been updated since 2021. It used to be a dependency of redmine. That dependency was removed by upstream at some point in the past, but the package dependency in debian/ control accidentally remained. I have just tested building the package without this dependency and it appears to build and run without issue. https://salsa.debian.org/ruby-team/redmine/-/pipelines/910913 Only two reverse dependencies are shown: redmine and ruby-actionpack. My assumption is that ruby-actionpack isn’t actually using it anymore. If something that depends on ruby-actionpack does actually use this code then we should keep it, but if nothing uses it then I would be in favor of removing the package from Debian. -- Soren Stoutner soren@debian.org
