Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation? Upgrade the linux kernel and the new kernel broke the external mic input (both USB and stereo jacks).
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? Tried different headsets with built-in mics (i.e. mics in the headset)
   * What was the outcome of this action? Still no sound from the headset mic - the listener couldn't hear me.
   * What outcome did you expect instead? Expected the headset mic to function and for the listener to hear me.

this report is invalid: reportbug is the tool to /report/ bugs, not
the recipients of them. This looks like a setup issue, so i suggest
you look for help in a user support forum
