I've now uploaded a NMU (7.5.2+nmu1) to DELAYED/2 with these fixes.
The delay is so short that the changes reach unstable before the window
for the next buster and stretch point releases closes on the weekend.
I intent to rebuild this as 7.5.2+nmu1~deb10u1 for buster and
cherry-pick the relevant change for stretch.
I've included the changes already present in the master branch in git,
since they are trivial and suitable for buster, too: fixing a crash,
suggesting a non-transitional emacs package, removing debug output.

I've forked the repository at
https://salsa.debian.org/anbe/reportbug.git
The master branch is already updated, buster and stretch branches will
follow. I'll push signed tags once the packages have been accepted by
ftp-master.
