Re: Selection of kernel for Lenny (was: 2.6.25-2 testing sync)

Any reason debian-boot was dropped from CCs?

Well, from my PoV it's very simple. Yes, it will be very nice to have XO
supported in Debian, but it is totally unrealistic to expect that could
be implemented in D-I before the release of Lenny, so this desire is not
a factor in the current decision.

For one thing: current libparted does *not* support jffs2. And then
there's that huge set of minor adjustments in D-I (and elsewhere) that
needs to be made for a new system, especially one so radically different
from mainstream hardware. All of which need to be written, discussed,
uploaded, tested, fixed, .....

D-I is going into feature freeze too, just like the rest of Debian. And
for unofficial images you don't need the kernel in stable.

Let's please keep arguments realistic instead of focussing too far ahead.

Cheers,
FJP
