Gladly, if you have ideas how to poke it.
I already tried --replace --verbose, with few success.
It should be noted I run sysvinit, log in to the console,
then run “exec startx”, but a dbus user session is started
by the Xsession, and this detail is identical between the
two laptops.
I could perhaps clone the working one and upgrade to
bookworm then trixie if needed, but that’s intense and
I’ve not got a lot of time for this within the next two
weeks.
