Bug#672564: kde-window-manager: KWin leaks pixmaps when using XRender and Box Switch
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.7.4-2+b1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
The problem seems to have occured when I updated some qt4 libs to 4.8.1 (from 4.7.4).
To reproduce set "Desktop Effects" to "XRender" then set "Effect for window switching"
to "Box Switch" play a video with mplayer have a few applications open such as Iceweasel
etc then press "Alt+Tab a few times.
Switching should be very slow and if you're running "xrestop" you will see "kwin" pixmaps
increase in size everytime you alt tab significantly (about 23MiB per switch) it will
also cause some "XErrors" in "xrestop" whatever those happen to be. Using "No Effect"
for "Effect for window switching" stops this problem occuring.
