Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***

In KDE System Settings -> Computer Administration -> Multimedia, "PulseAudio Sound Server" is the only device showing up. However, neither using the GStreamer, nor the Xine backend I do get any sound output in many applications (like VLC, Amarok, MPlayer, Xine; notable exception so far: MythTV, Audacity, Noatun). Both KMix and pavucontrol offer "Dummy output" as only playback device.

Any ideas?
