Thanks, done.

Some more information: moving the user's .kde and .kderc out of the way
and logging back in fixes the main problem, at the cost of losing all
those settings.  However, the enabling and disabling of subpixel
rendering is still ineffective - it's always enabled, but it looks
correct now (verified with xmag).
