And one of the reverse-deps of gtk+1.2 is wxwindows2.4, which takes up
about 5x as much archive space as gtk+1.2 itself does. In light of the
thread on -devel, perhaps you'd care to take the lead on eliminating the
reverse-dependencies of wxwindows2.4?

After a quick look, the source packages build-depending on wxwindows2.4 are :

- ctsim, maintainer is also upstream
- jugglemaster, first ever upload last month (!?)
- newpki-client, last upload 2 years ago, 26 installs in popcon

neither of the 3 has information on wx 2.6 compatibility

- survex, upstream page states "If you have a choice of wx 2.4 or 2.6,
choose 2.6", so should be ok with updated build-dep and a rebuild
- trustedqsl, patch asking for a rebuild with modified build-dep in the
BTS since April, no answer

I know that Emett Hikory in Ubuntu has been working on this for a while. He also told me that the gnue-* packages need work. They depend wxpython2.4 which depends libwxgtk2.4.

Actually these packages aren't even in etch or lenny. Are they removal candidates?

Thanks!
