I contacted upstream just 12 days ago about this matter and just now using a different email address and the official mailing list. I hope to get answer from him. If he does not answer within 14 days, I agree to remove it (no packages currently depend on it). But please also consider what Oliver (the primary maintainer, CCed) says about this.
