Bug#863959: apt-xapian-index: unowned files after purge (policy 6.8, 10.8): /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/*

Package: apt-xapian-index
Version: 0.49
Severity: important
User: debian-qa@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts
Control: affects -1 + muon apprecommender
Control: found -1 apprecommender/0.7.5-2
Control: found -1 muon/4:5.6.0-1

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8 (or 10.8):

https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

>From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

6m40.0s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/ not owned
  /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/README not owned
  /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/cataloged_times.p not owned
  /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/index not owned
  /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/prefixes not owned
  /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/update-lock not owned
  /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/update-timestamp not owned
  /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/values not owned

This problem is not seen while testing apt-xapian-index itself,
but while testing packages that make use of it: muon, apprecommender

cheers,

Andreas
