Could you add to every option long-style name.
This way shell scripts become more readable and guarantees
you will never run out of options.

Examples:
  afclient
    -h     --host=<backup-server>
    -c     --create-archive
  etc.

The same wish is applicable to all utilities in afbackup-* packages.
