Package: dnotify
Version: 0.15.0-1
Severity: wishlist

If dnotify is used to detect the writing of files to a directory
by an unrelated process, there is a chance it will trigger
modify events while the file is still being written, so processes
dnotify runs may only see half the file.
It would be nice if dnotify optionally could get leases on files in
the directory it is watching using fcntl(F_GETLEASE) under Linux
>= 2.4, and so delay the triggering of write events until the
file is no longer busy.
This would I believe require getting a lease on all of the files
in the watched directory. I have no idea what the performance
implications of that are.
I can implement this and send a patch, but I don't understand the
autoconf magic enough to make './configure --with-leases'.

You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/272031 in Debian BTS
against the package dnotify. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/592110. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
