Please recompile xmms-singit against id3lib 3.8.3 by installing (and
build-depending on) the libid3-3.8.3-dev package.
There are countless bugs fixed in the newer version and I have no intention
of allowing old versions of the library to be shipped with sarge.

These bugs were fixed in various NMUs, and became accepted when the
package was taken by QA at versio 0.1.27-0.3.
