Package: lavaps
Version: 2.2-1.1
Severity: minor

Every few seconds, lavaps outputs a warning to standard error on my
system.

 vnix$ lavaps
*** attempt to put segment in horiz list twice
*** attempt to put segment in horiz list twice
*** attempt to put segment in horiz list twice
*** attempt to put segment in horiz list twice
*** attempt to put segment in horiz list twice
vnix$ # quit lavaps after about 10-15 seconds of running it

When running a standard Gnome session (Gnome2.4 recently upgraded to
Gnome2.6 here) this means .xsession-errors fills up to the point where
Gnome (or gdm, or X, or what?) decides "too much output, ignoring
rest" which means that all error messages from the Gnome session after
this point are lost.

I attempted to Google for this error message and mostly found stuff
which related to graphics programming under X, in particularly with
libart, so I assume this is caused by an error in how the UI is being
drawn. <http://mail.gnome.org/archives/libart/2003-January/msg00001.html>
looks especially worth examining. (Maybe this should in fact be
reported against libart instead ...?)

If the error cannot be avoided, it would at least be helpful if it
indicated that lavaps is causing it -- this I only figured out today
when I ran lavaps at the command line in the foreground.

I have produced strace and ltrace dumps but they are large and to my
mind not necessarily very useful so I'm holding back on attaching them
here -- let me know if you want one or both, or if there are some
other diagnostics I can provide. This is on a production system so I'm
afraid I won't have the time and/or resources to do anything very
involved, though.

Earlier today, I did a dist-upgrade; I've having these problems ever
since I installed the system back in April or so, i.e. nothing seems
to be very specific to particular versions of libraries or anything
like that.
