Thanks for your thoughts. Some remarks:
 - The test-as-example idea can make sense, but not really in this case.
 - There's no debug package for this particular package, so that doesn't
   make much sense to add a binary with just that.
 - The tests can't be used at build time, since they rely on a working
   networking connection to be successful.

So I think I'll just let them only in the source package.
