I absolutely agree.
Rather than us depending on X, it is X that depends on the content users
provide. This kind of network would be not attractive at all if there
would not be interesting content. However, establishing a direct
correlation between the number of followers and contributors is
challenging. There is a broad variety of channels where contributors
might learn about Debian, thought.

Supporting a non-free company contradicts the ethical principles we
uphold when working on Free Software.
I believe it is crucial for us to be the first major Linux distribution
to move away from X, rather than the last to follow others. This is
particularly important for Debian to maintain its leadership in
addressing ethical questions.
