Dear Debian contributors, Today we had a very productive MIA team BoF session to discuss the current status of the MIA team and to clarify its mission. We think the MIA team's scope falls into three main categories: # Package Maintenance Identifying inactive package maintainers and transitioning maintainership when necessary.¹ This was the original scope of the MIA team when it was founded. # Security Protecting the Debian archive, infrastructure, and data by ensuring that inactive key holders no longer have upload rights or access to Debian machines. # Project Resources Identifying inactive Developers and Maintainers and reporting this to DAM, so that voting quorums, service access, and other project-level resources can be handled accordingly. As the current MIA process does not scale well and is facing several challenges, the team is working on refining the process. This is being done in close collaboration with DAM, NM, the Keyring Maintainers, and the Community Team. Further updates will be shared as progress is made and feedback will be sought. ¹ The ITS (Intent to Salvage) process remains the appropriate path.
