Re: Updated Debian Ports installation images 2025-03-31

Hello

On the PPC64, I tested the installation on my PowerMac G5 and for the
first time, it went well!

Then, I have a blocking problem though, when Linux boots. I found that
it was related to the graphics card. In the X log, I get:

(II) LoadModule: "nouveau"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module nouveau
(EE) Failed to load module "nouveau" (module does not exist, 0)

And at the end:

(II) modesetting: Driver for Modesetting Kernel Drivers: kms
(II) FBDEV: driver for framebuffer: fbdev
(II) modeset(0): using drv /dev/dri/card0
(WW) Falling back to old probe method for fbdev
(II) Loading sub module"fbdevhw"

The fact is that I have no display.

Raphaël: I tried adding nouveau.noaccel=1 and it worked. However, I think it is not the best.

Can you verify that the package xserver-xorg-video-nouveau is actually installed?

I tried and it was not installed. After I installed it, it worked!

I have to say that previously, I followed another advice that was to install firmware-misc-nonfree, I don't know if that had an impact at the end (just with this one, there was no benefit).

Note: I chose Mate and after some time, I had the login screen and after the login, I've lost mouse clicks, they are no effect. I can't have any action with it on the desktop.
