Re: Installing Debian on a PowerMac G5

I got the same problem...
So, I just used a more old image, like this one: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/ports/2019-04-11/ After install, I just added the experimental repository and did a apt update && apt upgrade!

Hi Christian,
you can temporarily refer to the guide published here https://forum.powerprogress.org/d/15-debian-10-updated-installation-images-for-debian-ports-2019-11-22 <https://forum.powerprogress.org/d/15-debian-10-updated-installation-images-for-debian-ports-2019-11-22> to complete the installation.

That guide sort of doesn't work.

The iso image at http://repo.powerprogress.org/debian/install/current/debian-10.0-ppc64-NETINST-1.iso  wwill  boot to the grub 2.04-4 menu and then sit there doing nothing. Also the fans begin to roar neatly.

Running "ls" at the grub command prompt will list a pile of device paths but none of that makes much sense.

I will try a different PowerMac G5 but maybe what I need is a very different netinst booatable iso image.  No idea.

Also, wow, the fans really do roar.
