Low-power USB only in Debian

Hi,
I am doing tests with a usb HD. It's suposed to obtain enery from the
usb only, but there is another cable to obtain more energy from
another usb when the computer is a laptop with low power usbs.
The fact is that when I use it in windows in aonther laptops or pcs,
and in mac os x in this iBook i have full power usb, but running
Debian, I need to plug the other cable because if i dont it mounts the
disk but it loses the device in about 10,15 seconds or less, sometimes
in 1 or 2 seconds. During that seconds I can use it normal.
When I plug the second cable to the other usb i ve no problem.
This is the syslog output:

With Mac OS X ive no problem powering the disk with one cable only.
Somebody has any idea about what can I do?
Thanks for your time.
