Are you sure you have a driver for your Adaptec compiled into the
kernel? Or is it compiled as a module, in which case you would need to
load it manually?

Missing driver for the Adaptec. The 53C94 is your external SCSI bus; the
one on the back of the machine.

No, this is not a problem of the disk.
