I have to disagree here :-)

To avoid what you are talking about, there is a header called
"Mail-Followup-To". Just use it: http://cr.yp.to/proto/replyto.html

If you look at the headers in this email, you will see it.

The "problem" is that many MUA's don't honor that header and when you
make a "group reply"; they include my address in the "To" or "Cc" fields
when they should not (no big deal OTOH :-).

You are receiving this mail two times (directly and from the list)
because your Mozilla has not set up this header (don't know if it has
such setting; Mutt has it, for example).

Configuring this header properly (and given MUA's which honor it
correctly), you can handle better the discussions in lists where you
might not be subscribed.
