Oh, Look;-)

iI'm now mulling over
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/powerpc/ch-post-install.en.html
which conflicts with kernel-image-2.4.18-powerpc:

The former says, "To compile a kernel the Debian way, you need some
packages: kernel-package, kernel-source-2.2.20 (the most recent version
at the time of this writing), fakeroot and a few others which are
probably already installed (see /usr/share/doc/kernel-package/README.gz
for the complete list)."

However;
Kultarr:~/kernel/21# dpkg --status kernel-image-2.4.18-powerpc
Package: kernel-image-2.4.18-powerpc
Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
Section: base
Installed-Size: 27412
Maintainer: Daniel Jacobowitz <dan@debian.org>
Source: kernel-patch-2.4.18-powerpc

The manual I'm pretty sure is right for IA32, but I don't see how
kernel-patch fits in.
