Don't have a clue on that one. Sounds like maybe Konqueror could do a 
better refresh? You might want to submit a bug against it.

There is an eject console command (you may need to apt-get install
eject).  It should be hooked to a right-mouse-click menu, but may not
be since we live in an i386-centric world. (It does work in Gnome, BTW).
