Hmm, try apt-get --purge remove pmud && apt-get install pmud instead.

That doesn't make it secure. The important thing is that an unprivileged
user can't modify it. This is what I have:

-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root       8198 Dez 20 23:34 /etc/power/pwrctl*

Anyway, if that error appears when the file doesn't exist, it's
misleading to say the least...
