If you use the new-powermac yaboot.conf, it passes
`disksize=2.88' to the kernel.  This in turn causes it to look
for root.bin in images-2.88, which doesn't exist for the
powermac flavor.  This will cause the installation to fail.

Why don't you use the powermac yaboot.conf[1]?
