PCI PCMCIA adaptor wierdness

Hi;

I recently plugged PCI PCMCIA Adaptor into my 8600. I was then greeted with
the following on boot :

The machine then just appears to hang before rebooting. I've used the
same card on an x86 machine ( with stock 2.4.19 also ) with no
problems. 

Any idea what the issue could be ? Does anyone have a PCI PCMCIA
adaptor working in a pre G3 powermac ?
