In theory if you are using the CHRP config as provided in the kernel sources, you should end up with a working kernel.  Same goes for PReP.

The key step tho is to use 2.4 based sources like the _2_4  in bitkeeper. 

You shouldn't need a zImage.initrd the yaboot approach should work. (Just installed Woody on my TiPB and that worked rather well)

I plan to install my 270 using Rolf's instructions so if I run into anything, I'll certainly hollar!

I am no kernel guru; however, I believe that you have to compile the kernel for the hardware on which it will run by selecting the appropriate config file.


Tom,

Could you elaborate?

Furthermore, what is the recommended kernel version for the IBM PREP, CHRP and POWER3 platforms.
The reason I am asking is because Woody ships with 2.2 as default, allowing upgrade to 2.4.
