Some time ago I asked if anyone had problems with the sawfish window
manager crashing on a TiBook (running testing). I have come some
what closer to solving the problem. I removed esound and some gnome
sound applets (the mixer) and now my machine hasn't crashed for
months. I reinstalled esound and the gnome mixer recently to try
out an app and it crashed with a few minutes. I'm pretty sure it is
something to do with esound and/or the gnome mixer.
I have at TiBook/400, and I have not had any crash problems with
esound and the Gnome Mixer application playing audio with mpg123 or
realplayer. The one way I *can* get it to crash is by enabling sound
effects in the Gnome Control Center. That seems to destablize the
system pretty quickly, and crash it within a few minutes.
Just another data point.
