I do, at work on a Compaq laptop. Since the kernel is stable, I have
bdflush set to sync every 3600 secs or so... it's risky, but hey ;-)

Also, on that installation (still Redhat 6.0) I changed the way bdflush
is called from the init scripts to have different timeout values. In
other words, I have a bdflush process running. Might be different on 2.4
kernels, since you talk about some /proc thing...
