thats the problem, acceleration is broken on aty128fb. turning this
on has the opposite effect of making the console unusably slow. run:
fbset -a -accel False and watch your console accelerate ;-)

i just had someone in irc upgrade from potato to unstable and perl was
quite broken, im not sure if this same problem is in testing as well
though...
(i think the perl package was outdated on powerpc, a broken
version... at least thats what he told me)
