PCMCIA USB adapter

I have a PCMCIA/Cardbus USB adapter with an OHCI chipset. In the past I
was able to get the card to work with a patched 2.2.16 kernel, however the
patch I was using stopped working after 2.2.16. Does anyone know how to
get such a configuration workign under a 2.4-kernel, or one of the later
2.2 kernels?

Note: I'm using a 2.4.0-test10 kernel right now. After loading all of the
modules under /lib/modules/2.4.0-test10/pcmcia/, I can see a new device at
the end of /proc/pci:

  Bus 1, device 0, function 0:
Class ffff: PCI device ffff:ffff (rev 255).
      IRQ 22.
      Master Capable. Latency=255. Min Gnt=255.Max Lat=255.

Whereas under my patched 2.2.16, I saw the following:

   Bus 1, device 0, function 0:
USB Controller: OPTi Unknown device (rev 16).
       Vendor id=1045. Device id=c861.
Medium devsel. Fast back-to-back capable. IRQ 22. Master
Capable. Latency=32.
       Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0x90000000 [0x90000000].

Obviously my 2.4-test10 is missing something. This may fall under the
broader category of "how do I use Cardbus?"

Oh, and my machine is a Wallstreet (September 1998?) PowerBook G3.

Cheers,
