Maybe you are right, but bevor I installed debian I got a copy of
linuxppc 1999 on my machine, and there was no problem at all.
So maybe I find the bug so that it could be fixed.
But I will try to use gdm tonight at home. And I will post a message
tomorrow
if it worked.
