debian-powerpc: powerbook make clicking/popping sounds.

My powerbook makes clicking and popping sounds.  I *think* it only 
happened after I installed XFree86 4.0b.  I was hoping that 4.0.1 would 
fix it but it hasn't.  I am using kernel-2.2.17pre5.

Has anyone got any ideas what is causing this problem and/or how to 
solve it.  It is a little anoying and figure that it can't be good for 
the hardware.
