actually no, BootX is more like loadlin,
loadlin: a DOS application which disposes of DOS and loads the Linux
kernel
BootX: a MacOS application which disposes of MacOS and loads the Linux
kernel.
yaboot is an OpenFirmware executable which loads the linux kernel from
the ext2 filesystem.
you are right that quik is really the one more comparable to LILO, but
quik only works on `oldworld' macs with VeryBrokenOpenFirmware TM.
yaboot is as close as you can get to LILO on a newworld mac.
