Bug#57205: gnapster hangs with "awaiting login reply" (PowerPC)

Package: gnapster
Version: 1.3-5
Severity: important

When I try to run gnapster, I get the following:

Connected( login reply...

and then nothing happens, if I try to disconnect and reconnect, or if
I wait several hours. I can see the following output:

rdreyer:~$ gnapster&
[1] 1025
rdreyer:~$ ip =, port = 5555
logging in (new_user = 0, <myusername> <mypassword> 6699 "nap v0.8" 0)
unknown[3] -> anon@napster.com
unknown[214] -> 2692 202564 793
unknown[214] -> 2693 202731 794
unknown[214] -> 2698 202778 796

with a new line of the type "unknown[214] -> 2695 203067 798" being
added every few minutes.

I have no problem connecting to the napster server from MacOS on the
same machine and network so I know it's not a network problem.

I am running Debian 2.2, kernel 2.2.14 on a Power Mac.

Here are the appropriate pacakges that gnapster depends on:
