debian vs linuxppc

Hello all.

I'm brand new to this list and don't even have debian... yet.

I'm running linuxppc for now.  Already switched from MkLinux.  Machine:
PPC 7200/120 48M RAM.

My main interst in Linux operating system could be justified by the
desire to use some of the audio apps available for linux.
Hence the first question :  how's the sound working on debian (and MIDI
if any).

Second question, how hard is it to move from linuxppc to debian.  I
really don't appreciate the fact that linuxppc went commercial.

I assume of course that all the apps that work under linuxppc will run
under debian...

Any insight in the above matters would be greatly appreciated.  Hint and
ideas, too.
