I did some statistics in my diploma thesis. I just created a project on
alioth ("popconstats") to dump all my source code in there. I used
PostgreSQL, Ruby and R.
I also created a "preference system" to order package search results in
accordance to relevance in respect to the installed package on a system.
My first implementation was in Ruby, but I had to reimplement this in
Java because of performance reasons. I am currently struggeling to offer
the results using SOAP. I am always getting mapping errors.
If anyone is interested I can send you my diploma thesis, but it is
written in German. Also I'd like to rewrite a few little parts before
making it public to everyone.
Bye,
Alain
