Actually not, the avahi stuff is purely in -draw.
(even if it was central, it would be core as it's in a binary, not something arch-independant.)

There is Tools -> Options -> Impress -> General -> [ ] Enable remote control
(which disables all Impress remote control things, not just avahi)

Or not require it at all, yeah.
I could probably do what I outlined in my last comment in #749770 but that
would mean weeks delay because it needs to go through NEW with a new package.
Or --disable-avahi completely.
