May is not "fairly recently", and in my we had still a unsupported
3.4.x in wheezy which *noone* except testing users who think this was
supported cared about.

You already do not have a consistent installation as you for whatever
reason you don't tell also have newer packages from that
newer version installed.

Pleae check your config (~/.config/libreoffice) for inconsistencies,
wrong permissions. Maybe try with a clean one, too?
