Package: libreoffice-writer
Version: 1:3.3.2-2+b1
Severity: normal
Hi!
Thanks for maintaining LibreOffice in Debian.
I have the following packages installed (along with their dependencies):
* libreoffice
* libreoffice-l10n-it
* hyphen-en-us
* mythes-en-us
* hyphen-it
* mythes-it
No special configuration tweaking was done.
I start libreoffice-writer:
$ lowriter
and write some stuff in US English; spell checking seems to work
correctly: as soon as I write a word the wrong way, it is underlined
in a red wavy line, and I can right-click on it to get suggestions
and other spell checking related options.
OK, let's quit and start over.
Once again, I start libreoffice-writer:
$ lowriter
and write some stuff in Italian; spell checking underlines almost
all words, since they are not valid US English. OK, let's change
the language from English (USA) to Italian (Italy): I choose this
language from Tools -> Language -> For all Text.
Language is now set to Italian (Italy) for the entire document,
it seems, and I no longer see any word underlined in red.
Wait, not even wrongly written words are underlined!
I tried to click on the AutoSpellCheck button on the tool bar,
with no visible effect.
I am not able to get spell checking to work for me
in Italian (Italy).
It's possible that other languages (different from English (USA))
have the same issue: I tried to install other packages
(libreoffice-l10n-en-gb and myspell-en-gb) in order to get
English (UK) spell checking, with no success, unfortunately.
Also, installing myspell-it does not seem to help.
I seem to remember that I had the same problem with
openoffice.org, but now, with libreoffice, I think that
I really have to solve it once and for all...
Please help!
What's wrong with my installation?
What did I fail to understand?
Thanks for your time!

Err. if you had it installed once, a apt-get install myspell-it shouldn't
have done anything here. So either you haven't got it installed (or removed it)
or you say something untrue..

Good, so I guess we can close it.

That's not a bug per se.

No, it's enough. (And depending on whether it still works with myspell
or uses hunspell-only features it probably should be renamed.).
