Thanks. Then it works as expected, theme integration works for Gtk/KDE. That was
the main purpose of why they were created in the first place :-)

And you can force your plugin using export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk (or =kde) and/or
OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome (or =kde).

I ponder to close it as this will probably never be changed, but tag it just + wontfix
for now.

You just confirmed it easily can be changed.

Huh, now you want to *not* differentiate from what calc chooses without -gtk?
Can you please decide what you want?
