WTF are you citing libreoffice-common here but then file it against openoffice.org-impress?

No.

No, because it not a MUST but it needed for SOME features. (And none in impress)
What strictly needs Java *has* that Depends (which you obviously didn't even dare
to check: see libreoffice-base, -filter-mobiledev etc.)
