The initial LibreOffice splash screen (the one that lets you choose an
application) is disorienting. Initially, the screen is mostly white,
but mousing over each application makes a gray button form around the
application.
Attached is a screenshot of such an initial window where a few of the
items have been moused over (but not all).
It's not clear if this UI is supposed to mean anything special, or if
it is a bug.
If it has special meaning, it is a mystery to me (and probably also
mystifying and therefore more likely to intimidate normal users).
If it is a bug, it makes for a pretty poor first impression for new
users of the software.
